We identified  cell-type-specific physical borders between active and Polycomb-repressed DNA,  and unexpected Polycomb-independent borders. Deletion of Polycomb-independent  borders led to ectopic enhancer-promoter contacts, aberrant gene expression, and  developmental defects.
